About Abe P. Kaplan, MD
Dr. Kaplan specializes in cataract surgery, eyelid surgeries and the treatment of medical conditions of the eye, including diabetes. He also performs BOTOX® Cosmetic and dermal filler injections. Dr. Kaplan attended Washington University in St. Louis, Mo, for college, graduating with honors in 1990. From 1990-94 he taught elementary school in the Chicago Public Schools. Dr. Kaplan’s patients find him engaging, warm, compassionate and trusting, and they appreciate the skills he learned as a teacher. Dr. Kaplan takes the time to make sure that his patients understand their eye problems, as well as the options available to them, to ensure the best outcomes for their eyes. Dr. Kaplan graduated from the University of Chicago School of Medicine in 1998. After finishing his Internship year of training at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, he then returned to the University of Chicago for Ophthalmology Residency training. Upon completion of Residency training in 2002, Dr. Kaplan received the “Most Outstanding Resident” award by the Department of Ophthalmology. Dr. Kaplan is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
