About Annette M. Wagner, MD
I am an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Dermatology at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine and an Attending Pediatric Dermatologist, Dermatologic Surgeon and Laser specialist at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. I received my medical degree from McGill University in 1988, and completed internship (1989) and residencies in Pediatrics (1991) and Dermatology (1994) at the University of Arizona. I received Board Certification in Pediatrics (1995-2006), Dermatology (1995-2025) and Pediatric Dermatology (2004-2025). I am a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the American Medical Association, the Society for Pediatric Dermatology and the Women's Dermatologic Society. My academic focus is pediatric procedural dermatology. I am active nationally and internationally, lecturing and training residents and fellows in procedural techniques including excisional surgery and laser treatment of pediatric birthmarks such as hemangiomas, port wine stains, vascular malformations, congenital nevi, nevus sebaceous, aplasia cutis, epidermal nevi and dermoid cysts and acquired pediatric tumors including spitz nevi, spitz tumors, melanoma, atypical nevi, pilomatricoma, epidermal cysts, juvenile xanthogranulomas, pyogenic granuloma, spider angioma, and other benign and malignant growths. My second academic focus is pigmented lesions in children including congenital nevi, spitz nevi, spitzoid tumors and pediatric melanoma. My primary clinical interests are the diagnosis, medical, surgical and laser treatment of pediatric congenital and acquired vascular lesions including hemangiomas, portwine stains, pyogenic granulomas, spider angiomas, AVM's and other vascular malformations and other pediatric birthmarks and tumors including congenital pigmented nevi, Spitz nevi and tumors, atypical nevi, nevus sebaceous, dermoid cysts, dermatofibroma and pilomatrixoma. I have a special interest in spitz nevi and tumors and in the medical, laser and surgical management of infantile hemangioma.
