About Christopher K. Burris, MD
A Washington, D.C. area native, Dr. Burris is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in oculofacial plastic surgery (oculoplastics). He completed his undergraduate studies at Emory University, followed by medical school and comprehensive ophthalmology training at Howard University, where he had the honor of being selected as the chief resident in his final year. He was fellowship-trained in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at the James A. Haley V. A. Hospital after two fellowships in ophthalmic pathology (Johns Hopkins University, University of Wisconsin – Madison), and a research fellowship with the London Ocular Oncology Service. Invited to present his research throughout the United States and internationally, his work has been featured in book chapters and nearly 30 publications in peer-reviewed journals, including: Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orbit, JAMA Ophthalmology, American Journal of Ophthalmology, British Medical Journal Case Reports, and Ocular Oncology and Pathology. He is licensed in Maryland and Washington, D.C., and teaches ophthalmology residents at the Krieger Eye Institute.
