About Curtis L. Barmby, DDS
Dr. Barmby received his DDS in 1971 from the University of California at San Francisco Medical Center. After practicing general dentistry for adults and children in Sacramento and Yolo counties for 8 years, Dr. Barmby entered an ADA accredited specialty Residency Program in Prosthodontics at the Wadsworth VA Medical Center in West Los Angeles where he earned a Certificate in Fixed Prosthodontics in 1981. In 1987 Dr. Barmby was certified by the American Board of Prosthodontics as a Diplomate of the American Board. He was recently re-certified by the American Board, a process that is required every eight years. Dr. Barmby has provided continuing education courses for practicing dentists at the local, state and national level in the US and Canada since 1981. For six years he served on the California Dental Association's Council on Scientific Sessions which produced two meetings per year for the Membership, attended by 45,000 dentists and their staffs. As Chairman for three years his mission was to bring the best national speakers for the enlightenment of California's dentists. Dr. Barmby previously held teaching appointments at the University of California School of Dentistry and currently spends six weeks volunteering at the University of the Pacific. Teaching is an opportunity to give back for what he received and to help nurture the next generation of dentists. He enjoys being a mentor and encouraging prosthodontic skills and was recently gratified to learn that of the three graduating seniors accepted into Prosthodontic Residency programs this past year two were his students!
