About Edgar Mafla, DDS
Dr. Edgar Mafla is an accomplished general dentist with over 23 years of private practice experience. Born and raised in Colombia, where both of his parents were compassionate dentists, dentistry has always been his life. His father, a prosthodontist from Boston University, specialized in cosmetic dentistry and implants, and his mother, a periodontist also from Boston University, specialized in treating gums. His early years spent working in their practices served as a catalyst for his passion for dentistry. Dr. Mafla graduated from the Javeriana University School of Dentistry in Colombia in 1993 where he also became a faculty member. In 2009, he graduated from the International Dental Studies program at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco, California. He received distinguished awards, including the Clinical Excellence Award for his outstanding technical skills, and was inducted into the OKU National Dental Honor Society. Dr. Mafla’s background includes extensive continuing education in all phases of dentistry, with emphasis on prosthodontics and cosmetics. He has served as a faculty member, a guest speaker, and has contributed many hours to community service. As a member of many professional organizations including the International Dental Implant Association as a Fellow, American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, and Greater Houston Dental Society, he is always at the vanguard in dentistry. Dr. Mafla always strives to offer the latest and most advanced techniques to his patients in a familiar and compassionate manner. Dr. Mafla enjoys the outdoors, and you might find him playing golf or visiting the different festivals in Texas.
