About Francis A. Caban, MD
It was my childhood family physician, and close family friend, who inspired me to pursue a career in medicine. I suffered from a variety of allergies when I was young, and, consequently spent a lot of time in the doctor’s office. The silver lining of my many trips to his office was an early exposure to both medicine and dermatology – both of which fascinated me more with every visit. Then and now, I always admired my doctor’s dedication to and passion for helping people. Today, at my own practice and skin institute, I try to practice medicine in a way similar to him – with plenty of personalized attention, empathy for my patients, and integrity in all parts of my business. Dermatology covers such a wide scope of care, from medical dermatology to cosmetic dermatology, that it keeps me on my toes every day. I spend hundreds of hours a year learning about the latest research in skin health care and incorporating new therapies and treatments into my practice to better serve my patients. Because of my diverse range of services I can treat patients who either need to feel better or simply want to feel better at The Caban Skin Institute. The variety of the work I do continues to hold my interest day in and day out. Before practicing dermatology in the US, I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. I lived there until I graduated from the University of Puerto Rico’s School of Medicine and then moved to Maryland for my post-graduate residency training. Since then, I’ve been in the Tampa Area serving both Spanish- and English-speaking patients from all over Florida. I have a fantastic staff that’s incredibly dedicated to taking the best care of our patients. When I hire someone, I train them extensively in whichever specialty section of the business they work in to make sure my whole team is providing excellent, efficient service to every patient. At both of my locations, we offer a full range of services including a state-of-the-art acne clinic, various photodynamic therapies, superficial radiotherapy, fillers, laser hair removal, and skin mapping.
