About Grant W. Heinz, MD
I’ve always loved working with my hands. As a surgeon, I find joy in combining that interest with my medical knowledge to help people every day. I’m passionate about perfecting the details in every surgery I do, so ophthalmic facial plastic surgery is the perfect field for me. Surgery on the face and especially the eye area requires an incredibly meticulous attention to detail that I’ve honed over the last two and a half decades. After completing a two-year fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery and facial trauma at Indiana University, I taught at specialist hospitals in Saudi Arabia for three years. There, I gained a much greater breadth of experience in the fine details of facial and eye surgery. I now have patients come to me from all over the country—and even the world—because they want a specialist who can make their face and eyes look youthful and beautiful while ensuring that these delicate organs are not harmed. As a leader in the field, I'm proud to have been a pioneer in the cosmetic application of Botox® injections and cosmetic fillers such as Juvéderm®. I have over 28 years of experience in facial Botox injection and over 20 years of cosmetic filler injection. My family and I moved to Arizona in 1996, and we quickly fell in love with the sunshine and desert. My wife is also a trained physician, works with me, and over the past 20 years, we’ve built a practice where everyone feels like family. We make a plan for every patient that achieves their goals, fits their unique anatomy, and meets their specific medical needs. Our patients rest assured that if they ever have any questions or issues, all they need to do is pick up the phone and we will always take care of them. Dr. Heinz has always loved adventure. Throughout the years, some of his passions were surfing, windsurfing, sailing, mountaineering, and mountain biking. While living in the Middle East, he led many four-wheel drive expeditions to the remote areas of Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Yemen. Presently, he enjoys going mountain biking out in the desert with his seven children, and he keeps 17 bikes in his garage for all the kids and in-laws to go riding with him. He's been a surfer and paddleboarder for his entire life, since his childhood days in Hawaii. He still paddleboards regularly, participating in lots of ""downwind"" ocean races and enjoying paddleboarding on lakes and rivers around Phoenix. Dr. Heinz studied medicine at the prestigious University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle and graduated with high honors. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society in his junior year. He returned to his home state of Hawaii to complete his internship at the University of Hawaii School of Medicine in 1988. As a resident at prestigious UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute, Dr. Heinz was first introduced to facial cosmetic surgery—which he loved. He went on to a two-year fellowship in ophthalmic facial plastic surgery at Indiana University in Indianapolis from 1991 to 1993. His time there was devoted exclusively to plastic surgery of the face, including cosmetic surgery, facial trauma, and facial reconstruction, with a special focus around the eyes. He has been published both nationally and internationally.
