About John E. Freund, DDS
Dr. Freund is a ""Fellow"" in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) and has been recognized by general dentists as a leader and an example to other dentists of the importance of quality and continuing dental education to patient care. To earn a Fellowship Award, Dr. Freund earned a minimum of 500 approved continuing dental education credits and passed a comprehensive 400 question examination. Dr. Freund has also been an Academy of General Dentistry member for five continuous years. While attaining Fellowship is a challenge, Dr. Freund remains current with what is new in dentistry, and to incorporate the latest techniques into his practice. Fellows of the Academy of General Dentistry follow a lifelong pursuit of continuing education to provide the highest quality of dental care to his patients. The award symbolizes the professional responsibility of general dentists to remain current in their profession and reminds each member of the dental profession to continue to learn new techniques for their dental practice. These are awards, however, and should not be confused with post-graduate degrees or certification. Every dentist who applies for the Fellowship has their application reviewed by the AGD Council of Dental Education to assure that the high standards of the Academy of General Dentistry are met. To date, more than 10,000 members of the Academy of General Dentistry have become Fellows. The Academy is proud of all of its members who must take at least 75 hours of continuing dental education every three years, and especially proud of its members who have made the commitment to pursue these awards. Because Dr. Freund has achieved the Fellowship Award, you can be assured that he is providing the finest care in general dentistry. Dr. Freund is a native St. Louisian, growing up in Brentwood and having attended St. Mary Magdalene School and St. Louis Priory. He currently resides just a few blocks from where he was raised and is close to the office. After attending college at Creighton University, he gained early acceptance to the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Dentistry and graduated in 1989. Dr. Freund worked as an associate for several years downtown while renovating the office's current location on Big Bend. Besides private practice, Dr. Freund is active as an advisor to the South County Tech Dental Hygiene program, a volunteer for the Judevine Center for Autism and the Give Kids a Smile program. In 2000, Dr. Freund received his fellowship award in Academy of General Dentistry for Continuing Education and in 2006 his induction into the Academy of Dentistry International for his community service. Dr. Freund feels it is very important to remain current through continuing education even in procedures not routinely performed in the practice. When he is not in the office or at continuing education classes, Dr. Freund enjoys music, playing guitar, movies, softball and model trains.
