About John Pak, MD
John Pak, M.D. specializes in oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Pak is one of the only ophthalmologists in the Chicago area whose plastic surgery practice focuses on eyelids, eyebrows, and periorbital areas. He has expertise in ptosis repair, blepharoplasty (removal of excess, aged eyelid tissue from upper and/or lower eyelids), and in reduction of facial wrinkles using Botox, Restylane, and collagen agents in men and women. In addition, he is specially trained in functional oculoplastic and reconstruction surgery, for conditions such as eyelid malposition, tearing, blepharospasm, eyelid tumor and orbital reconstruction. Dr. Pak earned his B.A. degree from the University of California at San Diego and received his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees in the combined program at Boston University School of Medicine, concentrating in pathology and immunology. His ophthalmology residency was completed at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary. Afterwards, he completed an American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery-sponsored fellowship in oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Pak has received numerous national research awards and honors and has been an invited teaching assistant, faculty instructor and lecturer at a number of institutions. He has been invited to teach surgical seminars where he has helped other physicians learn advanced techniques in cosmetic blepharoplasty and mid-face lifts. In addition, over the past 10 years, he has published original reports and chapters on oculoplastic surgery and reconstruction of the eyelids in leading medical journals. Dr. Pak is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Pak is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American Society of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
