About Joseph A. Battaglia, DMD
Dr. Joseph A. Battaglia is a dentist in private practice in Wayne, N.J. He continues to hold an Associate Clinical Professor faculty appointment in the Department of Restorative Dentistry, Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. He has maintained an advancing faculty appointment at the dental school for over 30 years. He is currently responsible for the clinical and pre-clinical instruction of sophomore, junior and senior dental students. He held an administrative position in the Department of Continuing Education at the University of Medicine and Dentistry-N.J. Dental School, the predecessor to Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, as well as his faculty appointment. He currently is Chair, Academy of General Dentistry Dental Practice Council, Chair of the American Association of Dental Boards’ East Caucus, a Commissioner on the American Dental Association National Commission on Dental Specialty Recognition, and Certifying Boards, a member of the ADA workgroup on Elder Care and NJ State Board of Dentistry representative to Commission on Dental Competency Assessment’s House of Delegates. He is a past chair of the AGD Legislative and Government Affairs Council, Chair, AGD Dental Practice Council, a member of the NJ State Board of Dentistry and President, NJ Academy of General Dentistry. He holds a MS in Biochemistry from FDU School of Dentistry and a DMD from UMDNJ inducted as an alumni member in OKU. He completed a General Practice Residency at Hackensack University Medical Center and has received fellowships in the Academy of General Dentistry, the Academy of Dentistry International, the American College of Dentists, and the International College of Dentists. Prior to entering dentistry, Dr. Battaglia was a research biologist at Merck & Co.
