About Karen Karnaky, Aesthetician Specialist
I am a licensed registered nurse with 16 years experience in the aesthetic industry. I started my career as a medical esthetician, and became a registered nurse to offer a one-stop shop for all my clients’ beauty and facial needs. I live and work in Austin and have a facial room in Los Angeles that I visit every six to eight weeks Originally a Houston gal, I graduated from the University of Texas and was awarded with National Honor Society. I graduated at University of Texas completing the Nurse Practitioner program. When I’m not busy making others beautiful, I’m sure to be found eating tex-mex, walking along Town Lake, or in the Texas wine country with my cowboy. My first lessons in skin care were my challenges with acne in middle school. I would walk to the old drug store in the Rice Village and purchase every acne product to find a fix. I have experienced what it is like to be seen by a dermatologist. My skin was raw, peeling and irritated with Retin-A, tazorac and benzoyl peroxide. Until I was seen by a skin care professional and was introduced to three simple steps, my skin began to clear up. I have always loved beauty products and treatments. My girlfriends in high school would joke how my bathroom looked like a display in a department store. In high school, I had Facing Sunday, where we would give each other facials, do our nails and do body treatments. I even bought an ear piercing gun I purchased at that same old drug store in the Village! The ear piercing only lasted for a short time until I got in trouble with parents getting upset.
