About Katrina Abuabara, MD
Dr. Katrina Abuabara is a dermatologist who cares for patients with a wide range of skin conditions. She has a special interest in treating eczema (often called atopic dermatitis), a condition that can affect individuals of all ages and impact quality of life. In her research, Abuabara uses large collections of related data – integrating genetic, clinical, environmental and social factors – to gain a better understanding of patterns and predictors of eczema activity. Her research team also studies the impact of inflammatory skin disease on overall health and whether skin is an important source of the inflammation that influences the aging process. After earning a master's degree in sociology from Stanford University, Abuabara earned her medical degree from Harvard Medical School. She also earned a master of science degree in clinical epidemiology from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, where she completed her dermatology residency as well as a postdoctoral research fellowship in dermatoepidemiology. Abuabara is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Medical Association, Society for Investigative Dermatology and International Eczema Council.
