She then started her career in academic medicine in Galveston and continued on to central Texas at Scott and White where she has now done hundreds of breast reconstructions of all types and developed a cosmetic practice as well. As an academic surgeon, she trained medical students and residents and has published many peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in plastic and reconstructive surgery. She is also a reviewer of literature published in the two most prestigious peer-reviewed plastic surgery journals, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and Annals of Plastic Surgery.
