About Laura Phan, MD
Dr. Phan grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. She attended medical school and trained in ophthalmology at the Medical College of Virginia. Her love for surgery and appreciation of facial aesthetics led her to seek advance training in oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery. She trained in oculoplastic, orbital and neuro-ophthalmic surgery with the world-renowned oculoplastic surgeon Dr. Thomas Spoor. She further refined her skills as an American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellow at the prestigous Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Phan had published dozens of scientific articles and presented at many national and international ophthalmic and oculoplastic conferences. While fully educated and trained in the United States, Dr. Phan enjoys traveling internationally and sharing her expertise. She has spent an extensive amount of time treating patients, conducting research, teaching, lecturing, and training other physicians in China, Japan, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, and Ghana. After finishing her fellowship at Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Phan returns to the San Francisco Bay Area where her extended family still resides. She looks forward to practicing oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery in a private and intimate setting where patients can receive exceptional and personalized care. While Dr. Phan has special interests in ophthalmic plastic surgery and facial aesthetics, she is committed to treating patients with functional ophthalmic surgical issues and neuro-ophthalmologic problems. Whether preserving vision or enhancing her patients' natural beauty, Dr. Phan's goal is to help her patients lead a fulfilling and active life.
