About Lawrence J. Fortier, MD
Dr. Fortier graduated magna cum laude from the honors program at Boston College, where he majored in biology and philosophy. Dr. Fortier earned his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1976. As a newly minted physician, he spent a year of internship in surgery and medicine at the Hospital of Saint Raphael in New Haven, Connecticut. Dr. Fortier next completed a four year residency in anatomical and clinical pathology at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut. Combining his interests in surgery and pathology, and desirous of returning to a field that offers greater interaction with patients, Dr. Fortier began a three year residency in dermatology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Following his residency in dermatology, Dr. Fortier spent a year on staff at Henry Ford Hospital. Dr. Fortier was then invited to become a fellow in Mohs micrographic surgery at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He returned to Hartford after his fellowship to begin his dermatology and Mohs surgery practice in 1986. Dr. Fortier is affiliated with Hartford Hospital.
