About Maq A. Serang, DMD
Dr. Serang was first exposed to a career in dentistry in high school through an introduction program at Oregon Health Sciences University School of Dentistry. After graduating from Linfield College with the necessary pre-dental prerequisites, he accepted a position as a Medical Missions Coordinator in Virginia with the not-for-profit organization, Operation Smile. During this time he coordinated and traveled with medical volunteers to help execute medical mission trips that provided cleft lip and palate surgeries and dental care to children in Ecuador, Brazil, Honduras, Romania and Vietnam. After two years with Operation Smile, he was confident he wanted to pursue a career in dentistry. He graduated from Temple University School of Dentistry, chosen for its strong emphasis on clinical care. Serang Dental Associates is a practice management rotation office for 4th year dental students. He then completed an advanced training General Practice Residency (GPR) at Virtua Health System in South Jersey. He is actively involved in and committed to continuing education. With a special interest in dental implants Dr. Serang completed his training with dental implants with the prestigious AIC Dental Implant Education Center. As a comprehensive dentist Dr. Serang has also certified Invisalign provider. He is a member of the Academy of General of General Dentistry and is working toward fellowship status. He has practiced general dentistry in Pennsylvania and New Jersey for multiple years in various office settings. He is also a part-time faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, which has allowed him to enjoy teaching dental students and has helped him stay aware of current issues and philosophies as they are incorporated in the academic setting. Dr. Serang spent most of his life on the Oregon coast. He enjoys the outdoors, exercise and great food. He puts a high priority on his relationships with family and friends. He has become an avid EAGLES fan as well as love to run the Broad St. Run every year if possible. Understanding that not everyone is given the same advantages or disadvantages in life, Dr. Serang is open to helping and being helped by others. His philosophy is to try to “treat each person as if he or she could be the newest addition to his network of friends.” He is committed to hard work and tries to deal honestly and fairly with people. His passion is to serve his patients and provide the best quality dental experience the field has to offer.
