About Marvin A. Herschfus, DDS
I am Dr. Marvin Herschfus and have had the privilege to provide dental care to families in the Berkley and neighboring communities for over 31 years. My office is conveniently located in the Berkley Plaza on Coolidge Highway north of 11 Mile Road at Catalpa Road. I continuously strive to provide exceptional dental care in a comfortable and relaxing environment to anyone who comes to my office. I enjoy developing that positive atmosphere by taking a personal interest and sharing life events as if you are my personal house guest. It is indeed a special moment when patients can tell me and my team how amazingly great it feels that we helped them overcome fears, and feel so much more confident. My father was a family physician in a small town of Sharon, Massachusetts, and my mother an accomplished artist. I truly feel that these influences have had a significant impact on my love of dentistry, cosmetics and most importantly caring for people. I graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, with a BS /honors in biology. I continued my medical research in Cystic Fibrosis and hemophilia disorders for several years. I received my dental degree from New York University College of Dentistry in 1982. Shortly thereafter, I relocated here to Michigan to work with my uncle who was chief of the dental department at Mt. Carmel and Grace Hospitals. I attend continuing education courses with my dental team to learn latest techniques and technology. I’ve received the Fellowship Certification in soft tissue laser therapy, certified in the Lumineers® porcelain veneer system. I also provide treatment with the use of dental appliances to treat migraine headaches and sleep apnea. My patients have also benefited from Sure Smile orthodontic clear aligners. Giving back to our community is important to me. Over the years my team reached out to the children at Berkley schools, we donated dental kits to victims of Honduras hurricanes. Recently, we were recognized by the Detroit Metro Riverfront Optimist Club for volunteering in their health fairs. I am married to Leslee and have a daughter Reena. I enjoy gardening, biking, swimming and attending my daughter’s soccer games.
