About Mary E. Horner, MD
Dr. Mary E. Horner grew up in Sacramento and was valedictorian of Rio Americano High School. From a young age, Dr. Horner was inspired to pursue a career in medicine by her family practice physician father and RN mother. She graduated cum laude with a Bachelors of Business Administration while also completing her pre-med requirements at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She then returned to California and graduated in the top 10% of her medical school class at UC Davis. Dr. Horner completed her dermatology residency training in Dallas, Texas at Baylor University Medical Center where she served as Chief Resident. She is passionate about all aspects of dermatology and enjoys treating patients of all ages. In addition to her knowledge of medical dermatology, she has extensive training in surgical and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Horner is a published author in peer reviewed journals and has presented at national conferences. She is interested in international volunteerism and has served on mission trips to Peru, Kenya, and Guatemala. She is involved in leadership roles and serves on committees of the American Academy of Dermatology, Women’s Dermatology Society, and SkinPAC Organization, and enjoys teaching medical students and residents as well. When not in the office, you will find Dr. Horner spending time with her husband and their children. Now back in her hometown near family and friends, Dr. Horner enjoys cycling along the American River Bike Trail, jogging in East Sac, water skiing on the Sacramento River, and snow skiing in Tahoe. She is happy to take care of all your dermatologic needs.
