About Michael S. Freeman, MD
Dr. M. Sean Freeman, a facial plastic surgeon and hemangioma specialist in Charlotte, North Carolina since 1988, is one of the few double board-certified, fellowship-trained surgeons who specialize in hemangioma treatment throughout the Southeast. His inquisitive nature and experience allow him to continue to contribute to the knowledge in his chosen field. Dr. Freeman provides a safe, modern approach to hemangioma treatment. Dr. Freeman is certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology (head and neck surgery). He has practiced hemangioma and facial plastic surgery since 1988. To benefit from Dr. Freeman’s many years of experience, call his office at 704-543-1110 to request a consultation. Dr. Freeman’s initial interest in the management of hemangiomas and vascular malformations began 1987 with the birth of his second child. She developed hemangiomas of her ear and nose (known as a “Cyrano” nose). He was consistently frustrated with the lack of knowledge in terms of treatment and management that was offered locally and indeed nationally. He made it his mission to learn all he could about the treatment and management of hemangiomas and vascular malformations by taking time off from his then beginning practice and spending time with the hand full of doctors who at that time had similar interests and goals. Over time and at times in collaboration with in particular one physician (Dr. Milton Waner) he developed treatments alternatives that incorporated medical intervention, laser treatments and surgical management of these at times difficult lesions. These initial treatments have been improved over the years. He is now one of the most experienced physicians in the country in the use of ILA (intralesional laser ablation) for the management of hemangiomas and some malformations.
