About Michael B. Stierstorfer, MD
Dr. Michael Stierstorfer is pleased to join Hurley Dermatology after having founded and worked with East Penn Dermatology, P.C. since 1990. He specializes in medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Stierstorfer is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate from Franklin & Marshall College and Alpha Omega Alpha graduate from Temple University School of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine internship and Dermatology residency at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine where he supervises dermatology residents in training and was awarded a Faculty Teaching Award in 2008. He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, Pennsylvania Academy of Dermatology and Dermatological Surgery, and Philadelphia Dermatological Society. Dr. Stierstorfer is also the founder of IBS-80, LLC and pioneered the discovery that hidden food allergies often are the cause of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). He offers skin patch testing to pinpoint these allergies here with Hurley Dermatology and at the IBS Centers for Advanced Food Allergy Testing in North Wales, PA. He is the author of the book, You May Not Have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, An Introduction to Allergic Contact Enteritis and the Food Allergies that Cause It and has published in a number of peer-reviewed dermatology journals. He is a clinical investigator independently and for the University of Pennsylvania, and a participant in the Major League Baseball Skin Cancer Screening and Awareness Program.
