About Ruth L. Hillelson, MD
Dr. Hillelson has extensive backgrounds in both cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. She is one of the most experienced plastic surgeons in the eastern US and has been successfully treating patients with a wide range of innovative medical techniques and technology. Early in her plastic surgery fellowship training, Dr. Hillelson began questioning patients about their personal skin care regimens. She found that skin healed better and faster in patients who kept their skin clean, hydrated, protected from harsh elements and by using quality natural ingredients. A former research chemist associate at Harvard, she has realized a long-time dream of producing a breakthrough technology for real skin rejuvenation, Iridesse® Skin Crèmes. A renowned reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgeon who has practiced in Richmond since 1985, Dr. Hillelson is a native of Rhode Island and received her pre-medical education at Johns Hopkins University. She completed her medical school education at Harvard University. Following her medical school education at Harvard, she did her internship and residency in general surgery at the University of Virginia, her plastic surgery residency at the University of Kansas and completed a craniofacial and maxillofacial fellowship at UVA.
