About Scott Nakamura, DMD
Dr. Nakamura is a third generation dentist who was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. He attended Iolani High School, and after graduating, he attended the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon where he completed his dental school requirements in 3 years. Dr. Nakamura continued his education at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and received his dental degree in 1994. He pursued postgraduate training in periodontics and periodontal-prosthesis at the University of Pennsylvania. From 1997, Dr. Nakamura worked in the University of Pennsylvania Faculty Network Practice, where he placed and restored dental implants, performed various periodontal procedures, provided fixed and removable prosthetics, and practiced general dentistry. Dr. Nakamura is dedicated to imparting and applying the knowledge he's accumulated over the years from his postgraduate training and practicing to his patients, contemporary colleagues, as well as potential colleagues of tomorrow. He lectures locally, nationally, and internationally on various topics such as Dental Implants, Periodontics, and Occlusion. Additionally, Dr. Nakamura had articles published in the Hawaii Medical Journal, the Western Journal of Medicine, Penn Dental Journal, Journal of Prosthodontics, and the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry. He enjoys playing the piano, the viola. attending performing arts events, watching movies, and reading. His academic responsibilities have included Clinical Assistant Professor and Primary Care Unit Group Leader in the Department of Preventative and Restorative Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine from 2006 to 2011, and currently Adjunct Clinical Professor at the Maurice Kornberg School of Dentistry at Temple University. Dr. Nakamura was named Best Dentist in Main Line Today, Philadelphia Magazine, and Be Well Philly by his peers. He has the unique distinction of being recognized as a Top Dentist in the categories of Periodontics, Prosthodontics, and General Dentistry.
