About Sebastian J. Winocour, MD
Sebastian Winocour, M.D., M.Sc., F.A.C.S. is a board-certified, fellowship-trained plastic surgeon who specializes in breast cancer reconstruction and aesthetic surgery. He uses the latest techniques in breast reconstruction surgery to help cancer patients achieve their aesthetic goals and restore their emotional well-being. In his aesthetic practice, he prioritizes working with his patients to create safe, natural results and to fulfill their goals in facial and body rejuvenation. He was born in Charleston, South Carolina and grew up in Montreal, Canada. He completed medical school and general surgery residency at McGill University. During residency, he also completed a Master of Science degree, researching novel treatments for scarring and keloid formation in an effort to help patients with these conditions. Dr. Winocour then completed a second residency in plastic surgery at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. He further refined his skills by pursuing a one year microsurgery fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center, training in advanced methods of cancer reconstruction, including DIEP flaps for breast reconstruction. During his fellowship he was granted a prestigious Clinical Specialist faculty appointment at the institution. Dr. Winocour has published extensively in the field of plastic surgery, and has authored over 24 manuscripts in leading journals, 19 abstracts at scientific conferences and two book chapters. He has given over 38 podium presentations on his research, including at national and international meetings. He serves as a manuscript reviewer for the leading plastic surgery journals, including Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Aesthetic Surgery Journal and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. His research interests focus on breast reconstruction, aesthetic surgery and resident education.
