About Stephen J. Ronan, MD, FACS
Dr Ronan is a board certified Plastic Surgeon with a focus on aesthetic surgery and technology development. Operating out of the fully accredited Blackhawk Surgery Center located within Blackhawk Plastic Surgery, Dr. Ronan has developed a thriving surgical practice of breast, body, face and hair transplantation. A significant portion of the practice is dedicated to revisional aesthetic surgery. In addition, BPS has a robust nonsurgical practice that involves injectables, lasers/technology, aesthetician services and skin care. Dr. Ronan is involved with the development and testing of new lasers and noninvasive technologies. He serves as a consultant for multiple aesthetically oriented medical companies. Dr. Ronan is a trainer and educator for Galderma Laboratories, Allergan, Suneva Medical, Cutera, Medicis Pharmaceuticals, Kythera Biopharmaceuticals and Thermi Aesthetics, training other doctors on how to perform various aesthetic procedures. He is also a regular contributor to HintMD.com, ObesityHealth.com, MyNewExpert.com and RealSelf .com. He serves as the medical director of the Cutera Clinic, which is the clinical research center for Cutera, a leading medical laser manufacturer. Born and raised in the California Bay Area, Dr. Ronan knew from a young age that he wanted to be a doctor. After graduating with honors from St. Vincent High School in Petaluma he went on to earn a degree is Physiology at the University of California, Davis. While earning his undergraduate degree he also worked as an EMT and earned a letter of Commendation from Governor Pete Wilson for his EMT fieldwork. He went on to graduate from the Medical College of Virginia (Virginia Commonwealth University) in Richmond, Virginia where he was awarded the prestigious S. Dawson Theogaraj Scholarship for Excellence in Plastic Surgery. He then continued his training (residency and fellowship) in general and then plastic surgery at the Medical College of Virginia (Virginia Commonwealth University). During his residency and fellowship, Dr. Ronan served as the Chief Surgical House Officer at Columbia Hospitals (Chippenham, Johnston-Willis and John Randolph) for multiple years. He was also the Chief Fellow in Plastic Surgery for two years. Dr. Ronan went on to work as the Chief of Plastic Surgery at San Joaquin General Hospital where he taught reconstructive plastic surgery.
