About Steven C. Landin, DMD
Dr. Landin is a general dentist whose dental practice involves all aspects of dentistry including children's dentistry, bonding, root canals, crowns and implants. Cosmetic dentistry is a foundation of his practice. Nitrous oxide and headphones are available upon request. Emergencies are handled promptly. Evening and Saturday hours are available. All treatment is performed in an environment maintained with the strictest infection control standards. His personal philosophy of dentistry is to deliver the best possible dental care while making the experience as pleasant as possible. Dr. Landin's educational background includes a B.S. degree from Yale University, 1973, a D.M.D. degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University, School of Dentistry, in 1977 and three years of service as a dentist in the U.S. Air Force. In 1990, he received his F.A.G.D. (Fellowship of the Academy of General Dentistry) after taking 350 hours of continuing education courses as well as passing a rigorous exam. Professional organizations that he is a member of include: the American Dental Association; the Connecticut State Dental Association; the Academy of General Dentistry; and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Landin's practice is dedicated to introducing new technological breakthroughs when they add value to the patient's visit. They include digital xrays, the Velscope and the diode laser. Digital xrays allow for the instantaneous viewing of xrays and the ability to enhance that viewing with all the potential of the computer. The Velscope is a new diagnostic screening tool to improve the oral cancer check. By shining a light at the tissue the doctor can see if anything suspicious is occuring under the surface of the tissue. The diode laser is a minimally invasive (i.e. almost bloodless) way of trimming excess tissue so that fillings and crowns can be perfected. It can even be used to eliminate unsightly blue spots (hemangiomas) on the patient's lips.
