About Taraneh Paravar, MD
Taraneh Paravar, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist specializing in the care of patients with autoimmune blistering disorders and rheumatologic diseases of the skin such as cutaneous lupus, dermatomyositis, scleroderma, morphea, and cutaneous vasculitis. In addition to a weekly dermatology clinic focusing on the care of patients with autoimmune diseases of the skin, Dr. Paravar founded the first rheumatology-dermatology multidisciplinary clinic at UC San Diego Health in which she collaborates with her colleagues in rheumatology to provide comprehensive care to patients with specific autoimmune connective tissue diseases of the skin. Dr. Paravar is dedicated to medical education and serves as residency program director for the Department of Dermatology at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She has published on and spoken about autoimmune connective tissue diseases and has participated in physician panels for local support groups for lupus and scleroderma. Dr. Paravar established the annual UC San Diego Joint Dermatology-Rheumatology Case Conference to allow faculty and fellows from both specialties to work with and learn from each other. She completed her residency in dermatology at the University of Texas at Houston/MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Paravar completed her internship in internal medicine at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and earned her medical degree at UCLA's David Geffen School of Medicine.
