About Ursula Klostermyer, DDS
Following her father’s footsteps, a general dentist, who operated for more than 40 years from a small but thriving dental practice in Hannover, Germany, Dr. Klostermyer completed a degree in dentistry from the University of Goettingen, Germany. As part of the program, she spent several months voluntarily in a rural section of Brazil working with local dentists and limited resources to provide dental services to those in need. During her studies, she met her husband John, an American, who was completing a doctoral degree in Goettingen. Following the dental program, she completed a doctoral thesis on the treatment of special-needs patients and then moved to Frankfurt to open a practice. In 2000 she and her family moved to NJ and Dr. Klostermyer soon entered a postgraduate program in prosthodontics at the Department of Prosthodontics and Biomaterials, New Jersey Dental School, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Following the completion of the degree in prosthodontics, Dr. Klostermyer also completed a 2-year fellowship in implant dentistry. Working with some of the major dental implant manufacturers she developed numerous treatment plans and placed hundreds of implants well aware of how important their exact and proper placement is with regard to the successful execution of subsequent prosthetic/esthetic treatment. She also taught both undergraduate and post-graduate students at UMDNJ. Her eventual goal was to again operate her own practice as this provides a platform where she could aptly provide the advanced treatment planning, esthetic and restorative dental skills acquired through years of post-graduate study and clinical treatment. Dr. Klostermyer is a member of the American College of Prosthodontics, the American Dental Association, the American Association of Maxillofacial Prosthodontists and the American Association of Women Dentists. She has published and presented in both US and international venues. Dr. Klostermyer also has a passion for contemporary architecture, design and abstract expressionist art. She has exhibited paintings in Frankfurt, New York, and Tokyo and continues to paint and teach art in her free time. She is married and has two kids and two cats.
