About Wayne P. Foster, MD
In 1983, after graduating from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry, Dr. Foster attended Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. Upon completion of his Doctorate in Medicine, he was awarded a research fellowship at Temple University Hospital through the Department of Head and Neck Surgery-Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. This esteemed institution, established in 1915 by the Mayo Clinic, has thrived and expanded in Northeast Pennsylvania, drawing from a two-hundred-mile radius. After completing this intense and highly competitive residency, Dr. Foster was appointed to Geisinger’s academic staff in the Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department. During the following years, he achieved board certification in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, as well as Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Foster’s postgraduate training concentrated in head and neck surgery as well as a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. His fellowship was under the auspices of his preceptor, the internationally renowned E. Gaylon McCollough, MD FACS, at the McCollough Plastic Surgery Clinic in Birmingham, Alabama. Accredited by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, this highly competitive and esteemed fellowship provided a uniquely intensive surgical experience in facial cosmetic surgery. Dr. Foster’s fellowship thesis evaluated the use of the Ultrapulse laser for skin resurfacing verses dermabrasion and chemical peeling. After receiving the President’s Award by the American Academy of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, he successfully completed the certification examination for the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. In 1996, Dr. Foster established Facial Plastic Surgery of New Jersey in Ocean County, New Jersey. Since then, the practice has expanded and become the leading center for facial plastic and reconstructive surgery in the area. The practice, now located at The Foster Center on Lakehurst Road in Tom’s River, has been renamed, Foster MD. Over the years, Dr. Foster has published several articles in the medical literature and has authored the book Facial Plastic Surgery Today. He has presented his work at the national and international level. His most recent chapter in press addresses sports-related injuries of the face. Through the Face-to-Face Program of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Dr. Foster volunteers his expertise and services to victims of domestic violence in need of reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. Dr. Foster is proud to serve patients in Monmouth County, Ocean County, and surrounding areas throughout New Jersey.
